About the composer
Ola Gieilo was born in Norway in 1978 .He has studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and recently completed his Master's degree in composition at The Juilliard School. He lives in Los Angeles, currently studying film music at the University of Southern California and working as a freelance composer and recording artist. As a composer and pianist he has experience from classical, jazz and popular music, and is exploring the middle grond between these genres within his own musical language.

"A Song like the Wind"
In this song, the voice is the wind itself. Voices melting with each other generates the wind. The wind blows throughout the piece, built up toward the last passage and then transformed to a quiet prayer to end the piece.
"Whirring of Wings under the Moon"
It's composed in contrast to "A Song like the Wind" and reflects a thought on birds that are flying frely in the sky. That thought is described by human voice. It can be love, in a narrow sense, but also means 'desire for beauty and pursuit of art'

Butterfly's Son is a fantasy that reflects on the thoughts and life of a young boy, born to a Japanese mother and an American father, as he grows up in America in the early part of the twentieth century.
